Porcelain Veneers Robina

Dental veneers (sometimes called Porcelain Veneers or dental porcelain laminates) are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-coloured materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their colour, shape, size, or length.

Veneer or “Caps” as they are often referred to are used to create you the perfect, straighter, whiter smile you have always wanted.  They can be made in either porcelain or resin depending on your budget.

Porcelain veneers resist stains better than resin veneers and better mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth. Resin veneers are cheaper option but don’t last as long or maintain the same natural as porcelain veneers.  You will need to discuss the best choice of veneer material for you with our dentist.

Types of Veneers?

The two most common materials used for dental veneers are Porcelain and Composite Resin.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are made by a dental technician from moulds provided by the dentist once your teeth have been prepared.   This type of veneer takes two to three visits to create the perfect smile.  Porcelain veneers have a superior appearance and are most appropriate for more severe cases of chipping, fractures, crooked, gapped/spaced and uneven teeth.

Porcelain veneers resist stains from coffee, tea or smoking much better than composite veneers. They last three to four times longer and stay looking good for longer.  Porcelain Veneers usually last between 10 – 15yrs.  Porcelain has the best light reflecting properties of any dental material currently available, giving your teeth a very natural and attractive appearance.

The trade-off for their superior look and longevity is they are more expensive. But if your budget can afford them they are well worth the extra expense.
